Criteria
Criteria for organisations applying for a CSO project
via the Olof Palme International Center

Criteria for the partner organisation.

The organisation shall:

1. be an organisation with a non-profit or cooperative focus whose activities are based on democratic values and characterised by openness and responsibility.

2. shall be firstly a member-based organisation whose members represent the target group that the Olof Palme International Center wishes to support, and secondly be a professional organisation (NGO) that is working actively to support and strengthen popular movements.

3. be registered as a non-government organisation with the authorities. Decisions relating to any exception to this provision will be made by the head of operations.

4. have carried on documented activity for a period of at least one year. In exceptional circumstances, organisations that are in the process of being set up and informal structures, for example networks, can be deemed to be local partners if their real democratic nature and their non-profit or cooperative focus can be proven. Decisions in this respect will be made by the head of operations.

5. be able to present an approved/audited financial report from the previous year. Any exceptions to this provision will be decided by the head of operations.

6. work for social development based on a democratic ground.

7. be able to assume responsibility for the proposed project and have the required personnel and economic resources.

8. not be a political party. This requirement does not apply to so-called party-associated organisations, e.g. the women’s association of a party. Specific regulations apply for directions that apply to arty-oriented democracy support. Contact you programme manager for further discussions.
