Africa
Cooperation in Africa is characterised more and more by the struggle against HIV/AIDS, and this issue is included in all projects in Africa. The epidemic is a disaster, both for the individual and for society. When important members of the community pass away economic development, productivity, and demand decline, and progress towards increased democracy stalls.
Regional cooperation is of growing importance in Africa. The African Union has an increasingly important position, and when cooperation between African countries increases, regional projects receive a greater relevance for development cooperation as well.
Important goals for cooperation with Africa are, besides the struggle against HIV/AIDS, democracy, human rights, support for young people and youth organisations, and conflict resolution.
