Together for the future - A just world is possible

For us social democrats, the human being is the focus: her development and freedom, her desire to grow, the feeling of responsibility for future generations, solidarity with others. Our vision is the freedom of all people. We want to close gaps, broaden solidarity and contribute to a world where poverty and powerlessness are things of the past.

In today’s world, dictators are on the retreat, though people are still living under oppression. In many parts of the world, free trade unions are forbidden. People active in political or trade union work are imprisoned and persecuted.

Well functioning political parties and trade unions are needed if we are to eradicate poverty and make the world a just one. I am proud to lead a party that through practical international solidarity work contributes to democratic development the world over. Our strength is the knowledge that alone we are weak, but together we can make a difference.
