Party-oriented democracy support

A well-functioning party system and a broad popular involvement are important prerequisites of democracy in all countries. The Palme Center and The Swedish Social Democratic Party cooperate with many political parties and movements around the world in order to strengthen civil society and contribute to political participation.

Prioritised countries and projects
The party-oriented democracy support shall benefit the establishment of democracy in developing countries and in the countries of the Western Balkans and Eastern Europe. Support is mainly given to projects with a focus on education and organisational development. The most import target groups are women, youth and active party members at grass-root level.
