Human Rights
Human rights are decisive for peace and building democracy, as well as obviously being important on their own. The center’s definition of rights includes economic and social rights and we recognise the important link -- and reciprocal effect -- between these and civil and political rights. Thus, social justice is a key term for the center’s work.
In the discussion of the problems of globalisation we point to the importance of respect for human rights. These rights should belong to everyone, not just the most favoured in society. The center places great weight on labour rights and sees the International Labour Organisation’s key conventions as crucially important.
Other issues raised by the center include the struggle against racism and xenophobia, and the fight for religious freedom, the rights of women and gender equality, respect for young people, and children’s rights.
